Website Key

Some notes about this site.

Hello one and all. This is Ben Brown Jr., the designer of this site for Coral Mallow.

As you happened upon all of this, you have probably noticed and are wondering what all the symbol buttons mean. So, I have decided to illustrate their functions.

Coral asked me to create this site for her, and it is loosely based on a previous website I developed. I wanted to have a clean break from her last one, so I decided to jazz this one up a little. Some things remained, but have been repurposed, like the analogous (orange and red) color scheme.

First off, these images in the buttons are letterforms. They don't spell out any secret message or the like (unless you need them to...); I chose them for purely aesthetic reasons. They are, however, color coded.

RED BUTTONS

These buttons are about Coral, the person. These are things she is actively doing, like teaching and creating.

The red buttons have rounded shapes, more organic forms, since they deal with a person or the hand-made things a person has created.

If these buttons were parts of speech, they would be verbs, present tense.

BLUE BUTTONS

These buttons are about things Coral has created, like items in her portfolio, or previous events she has hosted.

The blue buttons have rounded shapes, more organic forms, since they deal with a person or the hand-made things a person has created.

If these buttons were parts of speech, they would be verbs, past tense.

BLACK BUTTONS

These buttons are about things the more business-like side of what Coral does, like a calendar or category items in her store. Because these are less fluid and more structured aspects of Coral's life, the forms have harder, sharper lines.

If these buttons were parts of speech, they would be adverbs.

THE LOGO

This was originally one of two buttons I created for Coral's site, since she is all about dragons. There was a previous dragon pendant as the logo on her last site, but once again, wanting a clean break, have moved that image to the gallery for viewing.

EASTER EGG

And of course, symbols with hidden purpose without an extra layer of intrigue would be boring, correct? Coral has asked me to place an Easter Egg on this site. It may or may not be one of these sets of buttons; it may be another image.
Happy hunting.

Most sites that artists have are hard to navigate, and for the most part, are cold in nature. Coral is neither of these things, and I wanted her website to reflect the warm, fun and loving person that she is and still have the site be easily searched, professional and welcoming. I hope that I have succeeded, and I hope you enjoy your time here. She is a storyteller. This site and its iconography, like Coral, tell a story that has yet to be finished or is one-dimensional.

Yes, it may come off a little Led Zeppelin 4, but then again, I have a black dog.

Love to you all.

Ben Brown Jr.
